Denver's Premier Gilbert and Sullivan Society

ELPs History

Empire Lyric Players, aka ELPs, were first organized in 1958 by Holy Family High School graduates, and we’ve been a constant presence in the Greater Denver theater scene ever since.

Our first production was H.M.S. Pinafore, presented at the Denver Women’s Club, and our repertoire now encompasses most of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operas.

As one of the oldest surviving “G&S” societies in the country, we represent an irreplaceable source of connection and joy for hundreds of talented amateurs, professional performers, and hardcore fans.

Values Statement
The Empire Lyric players welcome all persons without regard to age, race, gender, color, creed, religion, national or ethnic origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation. We balance fun with high standards of performance and behavior. We aim to create lifetime members and lifetime fans.

Mission Statement
We, the Empire Lyric Players, choose to reinvigorate every year our proud tradition of giving artistic verisimilitude to the works of Gilbert & Sullivan to bring joy, music, and community to the Denver Area.
